I always love a great conditioning treatment during the week and one of my favorites is Creme by Terax. I put this in my hair and it's as though I've given my locks a day at the spa. Love it!

Cream to splurge on...

It seems as though everyone is super dry right now! I know my face, eyes, and lips are very dry lately with the weather. I am always picky about expensive creams but one of my favorites and approved by my favorite beauty editor, Jean Godfrey-June for Lucky magazine, is Creme De La Mer. The original cream is to die for! I would use this all over my body if I could afford it! Since my skin is combination, it is not a good cream for me during the day. I use it at night and it helps with my dryness the next day. {La Mer}

Wipes!

One of my favorite makeup removers, while traveling and on location doing makeup, are makeup wipes. So many lines have these now and they are perfect for removing makeup from your face, eyes, and lips. The ones I currently have now are MAC. Most skincare lines now have wipes. These should not be a daily cleanser but an on-the-go cleanser for times when you don't have much time!

Hair Solutions

Bumble and Bumble hair powder, not to mention their gentle shampoo and conditioner, is one of my hair saving graces. I have thin fine hair that needs a good washing EVERY day. B&B hair powders give my hair a lift without going through the entire process of washing, drying, and styling. It comes in several colors for you to choose from so you can get close to your natural hair color. This is definitely a product that allows you to cheat on "getting ready" time.

Nude Eye Tip

One of my favorite looks is a light shadow on the eye with a black or brown liner and finishing with mascara. This is great for day or if you are in a hurry to get out the door but wouldn't dream of leaving before doing something to the eyes. It is also a nice natural look. TIP: when choosing a base color for this look, be sure not to pick too light of a color. It should be around the color of your natural skin tone. Stay away from shimmery shadows all over the lid as it tends to age you. Priming the lid with a lid primer gets the true color of the shadow, makes the shadow stay for the day, and prevents a crepey look on the lid. Look for colors such as bone, wheat, bisque, butter, shell. These are common base color names.

Kiss Me Mascara

More than anything, my clients discuss their mascara woes with me. They lean toward waterproof mascara that can be damaging for the lashes and is not removed easily. I have told several of my clients about Kiss Me mascara. The mascara actually forms tiny water resistant tubes around the lashes that last longer and doesn't even call for a makeup remover. You remove the mascara with warm water and a little pressure and they slide right off. I love this mascara for a wedding day or an occasion I know I may be a little teary eyed. {Kiss Me}

Hand Cream That Gets the Job Done

I love Ahava's mineral hand cream. In the winter months my hands get extremely dry, cracked, and need additional moisture. Many hand creams, after applied, leave my hands stinging or call for additional application a few minutes later. Makes Scents to Me!

I have to share my favorite fragrance which is Trish McEvoy's #9. The scent is blackberry, vanilla. It is a perfect blend, not too floral and just a hint of musk. I can wear it year round and it doesn't arrive before I do when I walk in a room. Best of all it also comes in a smaller bottle that I keep in my purse. {Trish}

The Perfect Tweezers

This may not be new to some of you but I had to put my favorite tweezers from tweezerman on here for those still searching for that perfect pair. They can grab the finest hairs to help me create the perfect brow (with some help of a few incredible stencils of course). My Love for Eye Cream

B.Kamins has one of my favorite eye creams that I love using during the day. It firms, fills lines, and has light reflecting properties that help reduce the appearance of dark circles and wrinkles. I also love the fact that I can put my concealer on top of this cream and it doesn't make it crease or wipe off easily.

New Beauty magazine has a "Test Tube" program that delivers an actual tube of products of premier cosmetic items from teeth whitener, powder, hair product, to face wash. They deliver four times a year and it is $25 a tube. {pic from New Beauty}

An Apple a Day...

I received this Philosophy product from the "fruit stand" collection, an Apple a day keeps the blues away, shower gel, shampoo, bubble bath for Christmas. Well, actually my husband received it but guess who uses it the most! I love the fresh, crisp smell this leaves, and it doesn't leave my skin dry like soap does. Great skincare at a low price

Aveeno
One of my favorite products is the SPF 30 moisturizer from Aveenos Positively Radiant line. It allows me to use an SPF that doesn't make me look like an oil pit in a matter of minutes and gives my combination skin balanced hydration. I use this during the day and love it! I like using my Alpha Hydroxy Acids or retinol treatments in the evening as opposed to having it in my daytime moisturizer, so this product is perfect.

Mineral Powder All Around

So many clients ask about the difference in the large selection of mineral powders on the market now. Here’s the scoop…
Just as you are selective about the liquid foundation you choose for your face for reasons such as ingredients, coverage, and quality, you should do the same with mineral foundation. They may say “Mineral”, but do they still use fillers such as talc and only have a little bit of the good stuff? Mineral powder should be healthy for the skin and provide excellent coverage. It should not contain fragrance, dyes, or talc in order to be ideal for sensitive, acne prone, and other skin types. Some powders also contain bismuth, which leaves the skin shiny and may have a white or chalky effect resulting in additional product use to control shine. My advice is to look at the ingredients and test a few lines to see what gives you the coverage you need along with what works well with your skin.

Why Prime?

Why Prime? Priming the skin with a good primer before applying makeup creates a smooth canvas for your foundation. It can be used before your moisturizer just before applying foundation. Several makeup lines have a primer, some including an SPF. A few I like are Laura Mercier, Bess Cosmetics, and NARS. They all differ in texture but have the same functionality. If you are new to priming your face before applying your makeup, ask for samples of different primers to see which one works best. It makes a difference in the overall appearance and longevity of your makeup!
